A museum for the kids

You’ve admired the historical landmarks and museums, and your younger children have unwillingly followed along. Well, now that you’ve seen your favorite sights, why not take your children somewhere for them? The Duluth Children’s Museum will not only leave your kids eager to go to a museum, but probably rushing you out the door, too.Unlike a traditional museum, where visitors can look but not touch, the Children’s Museum allows children to play, create, and learn all at once. Exhibits are constantly changing, but just some of the activities lined up for September include Dino Days, Kids Create, Take Apart Station, and Books Alive.Kids Create is the most reoccurring exhibit, where children get to. . . well, create! Given a variety of supplies, kids and their parents are giving the reigns to design their own museum worthy piece. And the best part? Your child keeps his or her final product as a memento of the day.In Dino Days, your family has the chance to learn about the dinosaur age. By examining fossils and bones, you and your child become excavators for the day. And if you need any information or advice, a paleontologist will be on site to help.Other popular exhibits/activities include the Take Apart Station, which allows you to explore the way things are made. Take apart various items (such as a phone) and find out how they work. Or the Books Alive exhibit, where you can listen and watch your favorite tales come to life!Tickets for the museum are well priced, with children’s tickets costing 6 and adult’s tickets only reaching 12.With so many activities, there’s no better way for children to explore the world they live in. And with the chance to take phones apart and excavate fossils, it would be a lie to say parents won’t have fun here, too. But we’ll never tell your secret.
