The Midwestern state of Minnesota has produced a host of celebrities. The most famous people of Minnesota are everything from recording artists to sports stars to actors to professional wrestlers turned politicians. Here is a list of the top five in no particular order.

1. Bob Dyland – Dyland is the famous singer and songwriter who helped ignite a generation in protest in the 1960′s. The Duluth native became a hero of students and counter culture activities during his era.

2. Judy Garland – Garland, a Grand Rapids native, was a singer and actor most famous for her role as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.

3. Roger Maris – Maris, born in Hibbling, was a star baseball player for the New York Yankees in the 50′s and 60′s. He held the record for most home runs in a single season for nearly 40 years.

4. Charles Shultz – Shultz, a native of Minneapolis, created the cartoon Peanuts and one of the most famous characters of all time in Charlie Brown.

5. Jesse “The Body” Ventura – Ventura, born in Minneapolis, came to fame as a professional wrestler in the 70′s and 80′s. After retirement went on to become governor of his home state.
