Top Minnesota Twins Baseball Teams Throughout History
Since moving from Washington D.C. to the Twin Cities in 1961, the Minneasota Twins have made the playoffs eleven times. Of those eleven times they played in three world series, winning twice. The first World Series appearance was in 1965 when the Twins, led at that time by Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew and pitcher Jim Katt, lost a close seven game series to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Though they had consecutive trips to the American League Championship Series in 1968 and 1970 (both times being swept by the Baltimore Orioles), the Twins would not reach the World Series again until 1987 when they won their first title by beating the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games.
The Twins would win their second title in 1992, beating the Atlanta Braves four games to three in what is considered one of the most hard fought World Series’ of all time with game seven featuring a 1-0, 10 inning victory by the Twins. While the Twins have not yet been back to the World Series, they have been to the playoffs six out of the last nine seasons, reaching the American League Championship Series in 2002.
